So to start,
I am going out west to Saskatchewan this summer to play in the WMBL. I will be playing with the Weyburn Beavers, this blog is going to be my diary of my experiences out there and the atmosphere around such a competitive summer league.
As my first post I just want to say that I am "stressed". Its exam time here at university and as any university student I live my days hour by hour now studying and trying to fit my baseball training schedule in between those long hours at the library.
With 2 exams down I have 4 days until my next one, so today I am finally able to hit the gym again. Training for me has become extremely serious because I have realized im past the point of just training to train, I now have to train to compete (Long Term Athlete Development Model). For me everyday brings a new question to my mind , today the question was "hows your shoulder?". I feel as though I haven't thrown in about a month, but I threw just last week. Taking days off doesn't do me any good, I need to throw consistently to avoid stiffness. In my workout today I am going to try and workout the whole body to include a long cardio workout. I am no david wells who can get by being out of shape and throw 90, I a guy who needs to workout and stay in tip top shape to get the most out of my pitches.
So im gonna go hit the gym, get a nice workout in and hopefully get the edge back that hasn't been there in a few days. I'll leave you with this question, if you don't train to be an athlete and just train to look good, is it possible to become an elite athlete?
